چکیده

Development of tough, reusable adhesives is important, but remains a major challenge, especially in water. A tough adhesive that resets entirely to its virgin condition when needed reported using caffeic acid. Here, acid employed as moiety achieve such the functions due dual characteristics: an from mussel-inspired catechol and photo-reversible crosslink cinnamic Adhesion involves two-step process. First, acid-functionalized polymer applied adherend, followed by UV irradiation (peak wavelength light-emitting diode, λP: 365 nm) form durable pre-applied (PAA) layer through crosslinking among moieties. Second, thermal activation PAA ensures repeated adhesion variety adherends (Reuse-Many mode). The cyclic dimer de-crosslinked at 254 nm. This allows complete removal residues no longer (Reset-On demand Furthermore, magnetic nanoparticles, can be activated remotely under water induction heating. study paves way for rational design bio-inspired outperform nature plant-derived raw materials.

A Novel Bioinspired Switchable Adhesive with Three Distinct Adhesive States

A novel switchable adhesive, inspired by the gecko's fibrillar dry attachment system, is introduced. It consists of a patterned surface with an array of mushroom-shaped pillars having two distinct heights. The different pillar heights allow control of the pull-off force in two steps by application of a low and a high preload. For low preload, only the long pillars form contact, resulting in a l...

Biomimetic and Bioinspired Anti-adhesive and Antimicrobial Surfaces

Macroand microfouling cause serious problems in many kinds of technical equipment. Consequently, there is great interest in the development of surfaces with anti-adhesive and antimicrobial properties. A range of surfaces with such properties exist in nature and artificial systems that mimic or are inspired by these natural systems could potentially be valuable technical surfaces. A bioinspired wet/dry microfluidic adhesive for aqueous environments.

A pressure-sensitive, nonreacting and nonfouling adhesive which can perform well both in air and underwater is very desirable because of its potential applications in various settings such as biomedical, marine, and automobile. Taking a clue from nature that many natural adhesive pads have complex structures underneath the outer adhesive layer, we have prepared thin elastic adhesive films with ...

Competing failure modes in finite adhesive pads.

Thin adhesive pads used to attach objects to each other often fail catastrophically. Here we consider the nature of failure of such a pad under loading parallel to the adhesive substrate. To determine the modes of failure of the pad and to understand what limits its load bearing capacity, we conduct experiments with finite pads composed of a soft adhesive layer with a stiff backing and load the...
