Development of tough, reusable adhesives is important, but remains a major challenge, especially in water. A tough adhesive that resets entirely to its virgin condition when needed reported using caffeic acid. Here, acid employed as moiety achieve such the functions due dual characteristics: an from mussel-inspired catechol and photo-reversible crosslink cinnamic Adhesion involves two-step process. First, acid-functionalized polymer applied adherend, followed by UV irradiation (peak wavelength light-emitting diode, λP: 365 nm) form durable pre-applied (PAA) layer through crosslinking among moieties.
